FAQ

Does reaching account level 20 unlock every evolution?
The community evolution guide identifies unit Mastery level 20 as the requirement, while noting that one creator described account level 20. Check both displayed levels and the exact message; this site has not independently tested that disagreement.
Is evolution free in Command An Army?
A reliable current evolution cost has not been established here. Do not assume that a report of free Ascension also applies to Evolve. Read the currency, materials and copies listed on the confirmation screen before proceeding.
Will the evolved unit still fit my army?
Check its resulting equip cost against your current budget. An evolution may produce a different-star form, and owning that form does not guarantee that you can equip it with the rest of your army.

How do you evolve a unit?

The CAA Codes Wiki evolution guide reports this route: use an eligible unit in matches until its Mastery reaches level 20, open the upgrade area in the lobby, then switch to Evolve. These steps are a starting checklist, not a guarantee that level 20 is the only requirement. Later creator reports also mention Ascension, as explained below.

  1. Equip the unit you intend to evolve and use it in matches. The source describes this as increasing that troop’s Mastery, rather than buying levels with Gems.
  2. Read the level on the unit’s own card. Keep it separate from your account level.
  3. Return to the lobby, open the upgrade area and choose Evolve, rather than Ascension.
  4. Select the unit and check the next form, requirements and any resources the confirmation will consume.
  5. Confirm only when those details match your intention. Afterwards, inspect the resulting unit and recheck its equip cost before rebuilding your loadout.

If your interface uses different labels or gives another requirement, follow the current game display and keep its exact wording. We have not established a current Gem price, material recipe or duplicate requirement for evolution, so this guide does not promise a free upgrade.

Does level 20 mean the unit or your account?

The clearest creator statements we retrieved refer to the unit’s level. MimoBlox at 06:15–06:22 says units evolve at level 20 and gain levels by fighting with them; Linjun at 02:10–02:20 likewise refers to the unit you want to evolve. These are creator reports from automatic captions, rather than our own tests.

The written wiki also records a different creator using account level 20. That wording does not override the unit-level statements or establish that account level is sufficient. Check the level on the selected unit’s card and keep the account counter separate.

There is a further condition to investigate. Chrisu’s September 19 guide, 08:10–08:17 says evolution becomes available after Ascension 3. We read automatic captions, not the menu footage, so we cannot establish whether these conditions are combined, unit-specific or changed between versions. Do not spend duplicates merely to test an assumed universal recipe.

Account progression also matters to equipping: AllThings. How reports that your Star Limit rises as you level. That is a separate restriction from an evolution unlock. Our star-limit guide explains how to compare a resulting unit with the budget displayed in your game.

Why is the Evolve button unavailable?

Start with the selected unit, its level and whether the game shows an available next form. A preview of a possible form is not proof that the unlock conditions have been met. Use this checklist to narrow the problem without spending resources on an assumed fix.

What you see What to check next
Unit Mastery is below 20 The reported route is to use that unit in matches; check the unit counter again afterwards.
Account level is 20 but the unit is lower Do not substitute the account counter for the unit’s Mastery.
Unit Mastery is 20 and the button is locked Record account level, Ascension level, selected unit and the full requirement text. Level 20 alone may not satisfy everything displayed.
No next form is displayed Do not assume every unit evolves. Check the selected form and the current Evolve screen.
You can only select duplicate copies Check whether you opened Ascension rather than Evolve.
An evolved unit will not equip Compare the new cost and your remaining budget; an equip failure is a separate question from completing an evolution.

These are diagnostic checks based on the cited reports. They are not a list of error messages we have reproduced. Do not delete a unit or spend Gems merely to test a guessed requirement.

Which evolution paths are supported by the sources?

The community guide reports base-unit paths and examples such as Shieldman becoming Sentinel and Scout Rider becoming Cavalryman. Its table also reports further forms on some lines. Treat those as community reports until the current unit card shows the corresponding result; this guide does not use that table as a verified recipe or price list.

There is stronger evidence for announced names. The official Roblox Update 1 event lists Spear Militia alongside Spear Vanguard, Halberder alongside Imperial Halberder, and Javelineer alongside Elite Javelineer. The announcement gives the base names two-star labels and the parenthesized forms three-star labels. It does not explain the Evolve menu, required level or resource consumption.

That distinction matters: an official name and star label can be reported as an announcement without turning every community instruction about that unit into an official rule. Current equip costs and repeat-evolution conditions still need their own evidence.

How is evolution different from Ascension?

The same community guide describes Evolution as changing a unit into another form and Ascension as merging duplicate copies to strengthen the existing unit. Those are separate actions in the reported upgrade area. A claim that one action is free does not establish the cost of the other.

MimoBlox, at approximately 05:28, describes going to Upgrade and combining two copies of the same unit to ascend it. This gives the distinction a direct creator source as well as the written wiki report. It does not establish the current price, maximum Ascension or every eligible pairing.

Check which copy will survive before merging. In Linjun’s September 17 tips, 01:14–02:47, the creator warns that putting a trained unit in the duplicate position can delete that copy. Treat this as a reported risk: identify the copy you intend to keep and the copy being consumed on your current screen before confirming. Do not infer a particular button name from the captions alone.

For a second evolution, check the new form’s own screen instead of assuming the previous conditions carry over unchanged. Keep spare copies until you understand whether you need them.

What should you check before evolving?

Decide which unit you need in your next loadout, check the displayed evolution result, and compare its cost with your available budget. A higher-star form is not automatically easier to fit, and the sources reviewed here do not establish that evolving every eligible unit produces the strongest army.

For the next step, use the star-limit checks, browse the published guides, or read how we distinguish evidence. Sources were read on September 20, 2026; no in-game test was performed. The videos were checked through automatic captions, which can mishear terms and do not verify the interface. MimoBlox’s description links the target Roblox experience; Linjun and Chrisu discuss the same named game but their exact place link was not independently established. Their advice remains supplementary.

The community page labels its paths checked on September 12. That is its own review date, not our game-test date or proof that every later update kept the same rules.
